On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Avicenna Center for E-Learning at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Overcoming Language Barriers for Humanities Researchers to Find Useful Resources in Foreign Languages and Translate Them Using Artificial Intelligence Tools”, on the Zoom Platform, presented by Assistant instructor Hajer Basim Mohammed Ali.
The workshop aimed to provide means that can be used to facilitate the translation processes for researchers who are not well-versed in SL, such as using strategies that enable them to find sources without the need for familiarity with the foreign language, as well as AI tools that help the researcher understand the content of research written in languages other than Arabic.
The workshop presented several programs, including Merlin, which makes it easier for the researcher to choose the research files that benefit his research, for this program summarizes or presents key points about the most important topics discussed by these researches, as well as the Matecat website which works on translating texts using Public TM, that helps to increase the translation’s accuracy.
