\nUnder the patronage of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ameera Mohammed Saleh, and within the activities of the Women\u2019s Affairs Unit, the Avicenna E-Learning Center, in cooperation with the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, the College of Science for Women, the Ministry of Interior, and the Continuing Education Unit, organized a seminar entitled<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAddressing the Negative Phenomena Facing Women \u2013 Electronic Blackmail.\u201d<\/span>
\nThe seminar was presented by:<\/span>
\nMajor Noor Mohammed Awwad<\/span>
\nColonel Sarmad Ibrahim Abdulhassan<\/span>
\nColonel Minaa Kadhim Abdulhussein<\/span>
\nLt. Col. Eng. Muhannad Hussein Hadi<\/span>
\nfrom the Ministry of Interior.<\/span>
\nThe seminar was held on Monday, 9\/3\/2026, in person at the Plant Protection Department Hall at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences.<\/span>
\nThe seminar titled<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAddressing the Negative Phenomena Facing Women \u2013 Electronic Blackmail\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

aimed to shed light on one of the most serious social issues that has emerged with the spread of social media, namely electronic blackmail, which particularly targets women.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar also aimed to raise awareness among participants about the risks of this phenomenon and its psychological, social, and legal consequences. It highlighted the importance of the safe use of the internet and social media platforms, promoted digital safety awareness, and empowered women with knowledge of their legal rights and the proper actions to take if they encounter such situations.<\/span>
\nThe seminar included a detailed presentation on the concept of electronic blackmail, its most common forms, and the methods used by blackmailers through various digital platforms, such as hacking accounts or exploiting personal photos and information. It also addressed the main reasons that may lead victims to fall into the trap of blackmail and provided a set of preventive tips and guidelines to help protect personal accounts and private data, such as using strong passwords and avoiding sharing sensitive information with others. In addition, the seminar discussed the awareness role of families and educational institutions in spreading a culture of safe digital practices. It also explained the legal procedures to be followed in cases of electronic blackmail and the relevant authorities that victims can contact for assistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of joint efforts between academic and community institutions to raise awareness about the dangers of electronic blackmail and ways to reduce it. It also stressed the need to build a safe digital environment that protects women from such crimes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, the seminar called for the continuation of awareness programs and seminars that promote proper digital culture and encourage women to report any cases of blackmail they may face rather than giving in to the threats of blackmailers, as this plays an important role in limiting the spread of this phenomenon and protecting society.<\/span>
