Ibn Sina Center for E-Learning Organizes a Workshop on “The Art of Portrait Photography”

Ibn Sina Center for E-Learning organized a specialized workshop titled “Mastering Portrait Photography,” conducted by Associate Designer Lara Ghassan Shayae, Head of the Photography Unit at our center. The workshop was held at the Electronic Calculator Center’s hall, as part of the 2026 joint cooperation framework between the two centers.

Workshop Objectives

The workshop aimed to simplify the art of portraiture, elevating it from a mere hobby to a professional skill set. Key objectives included:

  • Lighting Mastery: Explaining how to perceive and strategically utilize light to enhance facial features with precision and clarity.

  • Composition and Angles: Selecting the most flattering angles to capture the subject’s charisma and presence.

  • Technical Proficiency: Providing simplified guidance on camera settings to achieve crisp images and aesthetically pleasing “bokeh” (isolated backgrounds).

Core Themes and Technical Content

The sessions covered the fundamental pillars of professional portraiture, including:

  • Technical Lighting & Angles: Detailed techniques for lighting setups and camera handling to ensure high-quality output.

  • Background Selection: The art of choosing appropriate backdrops that complement the subject.

  • Post-Processing: An overview of essential software used for photo editing and enhancement, aligning with the requirements of modern media and artistic production.

The workshop focused on nurturing the artistic and creative dimensions of photography. It emphasized producing professional portraits suitable for various media and artistic platforms, utilizing visual elements to effectively convey a specific narrative or message.
