The Avicenna Center for E-Learning organized a workshop titled “Raising Youth Awareness of Intellectual Extremism” on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, presented by Agricultural Engineer Ayat Mahmoud Ibrahim.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the concept of intellectual extremism, its dimensions, and its impact on youth and society. It focused on analyzing the factors that lead to extremism—whether social, economic, or cultural—while offering strategies to curb its spread and promote awareness of its dangers.
During the session, the presenter highlighted that intellectual extremism is not confined to any specific group or religion but spans social, political, and cultural domains. She emphasized the importance of addressing root causes that drive individuals toward adopting extremist ideologies, such as marginalization and inequality.
In conclusion, Ms. Ayat Mahmoud Ibrahim called for reinforcing the role of educational and media institutions in spreading values of tolerance and intellectual moderation. She stressed the need for awareness programs targeting youth to equip them with the tools to counter extremist ideologies through scientific and practical approaches.
