The Avicenna Center for E-Learning organized a workshop titled “Sources of Digital Culture for the Arab Child,” presented by Instructor Hind Luay Abdulhameed and Mrs. Intisar Hameed Hussein, on Monday, April 7, 2025. The workshop explored the role of digital media in shaping the cultural awareness of Arab children, highlighting both the vast opportunities these tools offer for enhancing knowledge and skills, as well as the risks associated with their misuse.

The session aimed to raise awareness about the positive and negative aspects of children’s engagement with digital culture. Key themes included the impact of the internet, video games, television channels, music, and travel on the development of children’s cultural understanding. The discussion emphasized how these sources can be used to foster critical and creative thinking while cautioning against risks such as decreased attention span, exposure to violence, and threats to moral values.

The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations encouraging the promotion of positive aspects of digital culture—such as knowledge exchange and skills development—while enforcing safeguards to mitigate its downsides, including privacy concerns and erosion of values. The presenters underscored the vital role of families and educational institutions in guiding children toward responsible and beneficial use of digital media that supports their cultural and intellectual growth.
